Valuing people over our impactful research
We quantify the effects of tectonism, fluid flow, and climate change on porous media. To conduct this research, we examine porous media using x-ray microtomography, cores, seismic reflection and refraction profiles, and remote sensing images. We integrate these observations with empirical, experimental, and numerical models to identify and characterize fault systems, constrain paleoseismicity, and study earthquake-triggered geohazards. We also use quantitative and qualitative survey tools, alongside machine learning algorithms, to study how the cultural contexts of people influence geoscience diversity.
